Fergus Meets his first Surfers!

Sometimes our forest walk can continue down to Pease Bay, a small beach with caravan site.

Overlooking this beach, and connecting it to our forest, is a Woodland Trust broadleaf wood with its own circular walk, and it can add to the variety of our daily walk.

On our visit today Fergus met a couple of other dogs to play with, and at the end of the beach there were some surfers. When we arrived there, they were just leaving the water. Fergus hadn’t really encountered beings dressed in black suits emerging from the deep carrying coloured boards.

He saw them and thought to investigate, being very sociable, he likes to meet people. He was quite wary of them though, as they weren’t like his usual human encounters. As they got closer he became even more unsure, then as they emerged from the sea dragging their boards and suddenly picking them up as they advanced, he decided to retreat to safety.

Although trying to look brave, he constantly kept looking round to me for reassurance. As the surfers walked away, he was happy they were friendly, but also that they kept walking!
